At Memorial Villages Animal Hospital we believe that just like people, prevention is always the best medicine. Preventative care includes physical exams, immunizations, diagnostic tests, and medications. The diagnostic tests can give a baseline of blood values and help our doctors uncover any potential health problems before your pet shows symptoms of illness. The purpose of this program is to prevent disease, diagnose illness early, and prolong the lives of your pets. This program should be started the day you become a pet owner. Yearly blood work is done at all ages. These screenings will help our doctors detect potential diseases before they become a serious issue.
Dental care is an important factor in keeping your pet healthy. Dental problems can be minimized and prevented with regular dental cleanings at Memorial Villages Animal Hospital. Prophylactic dental cleanings prevent bad breath, gum infections, tooth loss and serious heart, lung and kidney disease. To continue with your mission to practice the most modern veterinary medicine available, we perform digital dental x-rays. Dental x-rays are crucial in identifying diseased roots, fractured roots, abscesses, and other dental disease. Many of these ailments can be missed if dental x-rays are not performed.
MVAH has a complete on-site laboratory, which allows tests to be performed in-house. This ensures the ability to provide a quicker diagnosis and prompt treatment. We are able to run a complete blood count, blood chemistry, chemistry, urinalysis, fecal analysis, and cytology analysis inside of the hospital.
In circumstances where additional information is needed for a more accurate diagnosis, we have access to an off-site reference lab that picks up samples daily. This gives us access to the expertise of board-certified specialists in all areas of medicine, giving your pet the best chances for a diagnosis and treatment.
Digital radiology is the latest and most modern x-ray technology. With digital radiology, we can get results in seconds and in more detail than regular film-based x-ray. This results in less patient anxiety and fear, ultimately providing greater comfort for your pet. Digital x-rays can be submitted to a specialist for their professional review.
MVAH has advanced surgical techniques and technology available. In addition to routine spay and neuters, our doctors also perform more complicated procedures such as mass removals, bladder stone removal, wound repair, abdominal exploratory, bloat surgery, spleen removal, and foreign body removal.
Your pet’s safety under anesthesia is of the upmost importance to the team at MVAH. Although many technological advancements have made anesthesia and surgery safe for pets, some risks still exist. To decrease these risks, we require all patients undergo a physical exam and have pre-anesthetic blood screening prior to the procedure. This blood screening will reduce anesthetic risk by ruling out any internal problems including clotting disorders, liver or kidney dysfunction, and anemia.
While under anesthesia, each patient is monitored by a qualified and educated nurse. There will be a nurse by your pet’s side from induction until they fully recover from the procedure. Your pet’s vitals will be monitored, including the heart rate, respiration, oxygenation, blood pressure, and temperature. An ECG which display’s the heart rhythm will also be monitored. Your pet will be on intravenous fluids to maintain the blood pressure and keep all tissues hydrated during the procedure. Rest assured the safest, most effective, and latest anesthetic and pain control procedures are being utilized.
Here at MVAH, we understand the vital importance of pet dietary management. We offer nutritional counseling and use specialized diets for the treatment of systemic diseases. The benefits of feeding your cat and dog a well balanced diet can pay off with a healthier and longer-living companion. We offer prescription diets from Hill’s® and Royal Canin ® to treat for bladder stones, kidney failure, allergies, gastrointestinal sensitivities, and obesity.
At the difficult time to say goodbye to a pet, we understand that you want your beloved friend to go as painless and humane as possible. For this, we provide a comfortable and calm room at our facility to ensure your final moments with your companion are peaceful.
